The Work of the Holy Spirit

This is by no means exhaustive. We are simply looking at the work the Holy Spirit begins to do in our lives from the point of regeneration and conversion until we become all that the Father has planned for us both now in time and eternity.

It is important for me to point to the essential oneness in the Godhead. You will see it across the scriptures.

  1. In Creation: Genesis 1:1-3, 26-28
  2. At Jesus\’ baptism: Matthew 3:16-17
  3. In the New Creation: John 3:3, 5-6

This is to show that the Holy Spirit is both active in the physical creation and the new creation.

Now, specifically, what is the work of the Holy Spirit in your life as a member of the new creation?

  1. The work of regeneration that brings you into Christ is started by the Holy Spirit. John 3:5-6
  2. The Holy Spirit is the seal of your redemption. Ephesians 1:13-14
  3. The Holy Spirit comes to play a comprehensive role in your life as another comforter. John 14:16-18, 26
  4. He teaches, guides, instructs, corrects, convicts etc. John 14:16-18, 26; 16:7-14, Galatians 5:25
  5. He produces Christlikeness in you. Galatians 5:16-25. He makes it possible for you to function as a correct Christian.
  6. He works out the unique grace of God in your life as a gift (service, function) to the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
  7. He helps your infirmities in the place of prayer. Romans 8:26
  8. He performs diversities of roles as the sevenfold Spirit of the LORD. Isaiah 11:1-3, Revelation 1:12-13, Revelation 4:5

Finally, the Holy Spirit is the One with the mandate to implement the Father\’s will in your life. He reveals, teaches, guides, restrains, alerts, convicts, inspires, quickens, activates, and leads into all the truths that bring you into the will of God and make you follow in the steps of Jesus. This will definitely make you a blessing to the body of Christ – as an example of Godliness, Christlikeness and Spirit-filled living. Hallelujah!
