3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1: 3-4 KJV
Thank you for following this blog. Today, we continue to dig out further provisions we see the LORD laying out for us in 2 Peter 1. We will read verses 3 & 4. Let\’s start with verse 3.
HIS DIVINE POWER
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Now, let\’s note that His Divine Power has given us… This is DONE already. It is not something that will happen. It has happened. As long as you have been born into the family of God, you are included in the \”us\” in that scripture. Are you BORN AGAIN?

ALL YOUR NEEDS IN LIFE ARE COVERED
What has He given us? ALL THINGS. According to Heaven\’s perspective, we don\’t have any lack. The issue is \”Can you see this divine perspective?\”. All the resources you require for life (physical, material, emotional etc) and godliness (faithfulness & fruitfulness) to become all that God wants you to be are available to you. You need light to progressively access and experience them.
See how it is rendered in these two versions of the Bible
Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. (TPT)
For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue). (AMP)
2 Peter 1:3
ACCESSING THE PROVISIONS
What then is the way to gain access to this vast heavenly provision for our lives? How beautiful to see that all you will ever need for life and devotion to God has been deposited in you IF YOU ARE BORN AGAIN. And you ACCESS it through the RICH EXPERIENCE OF KNOWING HIM (JESUS). Through the full and personal knowledge of Jesus Who has called you to glory and excellence.
\”…through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue\” The way into it is to know Him more and more. And He impresses on us a motivation before we get to verse 4: the fact that we are called unto glory and virtue.
Glory points to the heavenly input of the divine nature that mobilizes us to live a higher life here on earth. The vehicle of that higher life is the virtue we exhibit. Our virtues communicate and celebrate the divine nature we have received. Wouldn\’t it be wonderful to be a channel through which heaven can communicate grace and glory to this generation?
MORE PROVISIONS
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Furthermore, there are three provisions in this 4th verse of 2 Peter chapter 1. They are escape, promises, and the divine nature. You will see that this verse ends by highlighting the reason for receiving the promises and partaking of the divine nature: having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Salvation itself means deliverance. It is to be saved from an outcome or an impending danger. You must see your new life as a deliverance from sin and the sinfulness (corruption) that is in the world. This corruption in the world is activated by lust – the peculiar way your old nature functions. You have been delivered from this.
THE POSITION THAT UNLOCKS THE PROVISIONS
Now, it is this positional reality that connects you with promises, which are statements of conveying and activating the realities of your new life. Without these promises, you will never fully know the gravity and entirety of your salvation. It is as you personally engage the promises of God to you that the divine nature becomes manifest.
Partaking of the divine nature conveys the idea of experiencing what you have been given. It is the idea of unwrapping the package of your newness of life. But as you have seen, you must begin by escaping first. Have you escaped from the corruption of this world? Are you saved? Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?
Let us pray!
