Navigating the journey to your destiny

In order to begin your own journey to destiny, you must come out of something. For Jacob, he came out of his familiar environment to a place of challenge; this is where his own personal faith was born.

He lighted upon a certain place…He came to an unfamiliar territory. This was a crisis. This is someone who had never left home before. Now, he was not only forced to leave home, he had to find his way. Your destiny is not the collective decision of those who love you; it must be your discovery. When it says \”he lighted\”, it seems to me that Jacob was ignited here. This was his candle been lit so that his darkness can be enlightened.

Genesis 28:10-12,16-19

The sun was set. Darkness was prevalent. This darkness was to put him to sleep. The mandate upon his life cannot be activated by human scheming. There was a place for Rebecca\’s swift safeguarding of the purpose of God that was about to be derailed by Isaac\’s blindness (Genesis 27). However, the one who had been chosen by God cannot enter into his inheritance by power or might. It must be by the Spirit. Hence, this direct encounter with the LORD.

He took of the stones of that place… How comfortable can it be to turn stones to pillows? The place of discomfort is a place of discovery. Jacob should not have been able to sleep but we are told that he slept. He must experience his own pain, his own discomfort, begin his own process.

So, it\’s as if the LORD is giving us the formula for an encounter. In the place of your pain, uncertainty and confusion, there are stones to put together to form a single stone…there are pieces of past mercies/victories to put together to give you (a under for your standing) understanding of your life. It is these that will form pillars for what God will be building with your life.

Poured oil upon the top of it…he anointed the pillar. That was a way of setting it apart. There are things God have done in your life that you need to turn to a pillar, a support, something to hold on to as you go through your time of pain etc. And you know, the stones of past mercies that you put together to form a single stone (a single story) will bring in you to a permanence in your walk with God. You will be able to stand tall like a pillar, firm and unshakable, heaven and earth in agreement, in your life.

This is how your story will become a testimony of the triumph of God\’s Grace and the victory of His counsel over your life.
